4 Foodie-Friendly Finds for Your Valentine

Submitted by on February 6, 2013 – 12:54 pmNo Comment

Hating on chocolate-shaped hearts or a dozen roses isn’t my thing as I happen to really dig Valentine’s Day in all forms. But, if you’re on the hunt for something with a bit more creativity – pizzazz, even – we’ve laid out four fabulous foodie-friendly gifts for your Valentine.

For the long-distance couple

With my husband and I separated by a literal ocean for the past two months, I immediately clicked with this “Anti-Loneliness Bowl.” Yeah, the name kind of stings but the idea is a brilliant one. If you can’t get to your date this year, why not send them this ramen bowl with a built-in iPhone dock, so you can Face Time over candlelight – or is that your flashlight app?

Chocolate 2.0

If all your holiday photos are stored in Instagram, consider Cocograph. Founded by photographer-cum-artist-cum-baker Rae Vittorelli, Cocograph is a whole new way to have your old timey vintage photos and eat them too. Upload your schmoopy-photo to their website, choose from dark, milk or white chocolate, and before you know it, your Polaroid-style image is at your doorstep – and made of chocolate. Perfect for the digital + food-savvy Valentine in your life.

The gift that keeps on giving

The fruit-of-the-month club is a little too Auntie for our taste. But we’re totally down with an avocado subscription, especially when they’re as addictive as these green beauties. Barham Avocados – a family orchard on the banks of the Murray River in New South Wales, Australia – sends out a variety of Reed, Haas, Bacon and Fuerte avocados from August to March every year. With Valentine’s Day coming at the same time as their last harvest, a bushel of avocados fresh from the farm makes a perfectly updated foodie gift that keeps on giving.

“I love your face so much I could eat it”

This is crazy taken to a whole new level. At the Fab Café in Tokyo, you can get a chocolate truffle personalized with – wait for it – your head. Using a 3D scanner, the café will create a candy mold with your face that is then filled with chocolate. Even better, you can keep the mold (you know, to make more of your chocolate heads??). The service is only available to women – and stalkers….
