The Blue Brew: Stilton & Beer, As One

Submitted by on January 10, 2011 – 5:57 pm4 Comments

stiltonbeerGorgonzola and port. Champagne and camembert. Aaaah, cheese and alcohol. It’s a simple and fantastic pairing. And that’s what the very clever folks at Belvoir Brewery thought too. Thus, The Blue Brew: a chestnut colored ale mixed with English Stilton in the same glass. Yup, you’ve read right. This new East Midlands beer marries the famously pungent, mouldy blue-veined beauty with ale into one cheesey brew. During the fermentation process, the whey of the Stilton is infused into fresh wort resulting, eventually, in this beer-and-cheese-in-your-glass genius. Though I’ve yet to taste it, word on the street says The Blue Brew is creamy and smooth, without any harsh cheesiness (bachelors with bad pick up lines, take note).
