Cupcakes With Cojones: Butch Bakery

Submitted by Paige McClanahan on March 29, 2010 – 9:46 amNo Comment

butch bakeryMove over, Martha. Forget the rainbow sprinkles and pink frosting – it’s time for some cupcakes with cojones.

So thought David Arrick, a former Wall Street securities lawyer, when he launched Butch Bakery, a New York outfit that specializes in ‘manly cupcakes for manly men’. You won’t find any strawberries and cream here. Arrick’s ‘mouth-wateringly awesome’ flavors include goodies like The Jackhammer, the B-52, and the Beer Run (beer-infused buttercream, anyone?). Sports fans may opt for the Home Run – a peanut butter cupcake topped with banana cream and crumbled bacon – which, according to the site, ‘is more fun than getting to third base’. Betty Crocker must be rolling over in her grave.

Butch Bakery is planning to open a commercial storefront soon, but for now the company ships its studly muffins to addresses in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. But check back soon if you live outside their delivery area, as the little company has plans to expand. Big, manly plans, of course – no sprinkles involved.
