Delicious Down Under
The fabulously over-indulgent Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is set to kick off this week, promising to deliver an epicurean odyssey for two palate-pleasing weeks. Satisfying the appetites of 300,000-plus attendees, the festival boasts over 200 events including the classic ‘world’s longest lunch’, which will serve 900 diners at a 400 meter, linen-lined table.
For the second year in a row, the event will also hold Feasting Vignettes, set to run during the normally wearisome weekday working hours. Bordering on a kind of epicurean installation art, random foodie sights will pop-up in various locations around Melbourne’s Central Business District intending to serve as an amuse bouche for the coming events. If you’re a foodie, wine fanatic, or just into checking out the scene, the organizer’s pledge a multi-sensory smorgasbord.
Over in Sydney, the Taste of Sydney will also kick off this week, where for three days, top chefs, artisan producers, and foodies galore will mingle. In virtual celebration of both events, The Urban Grocer will join the festivals in honoring the unique, urban foodstuffs coming out of Melbourne and Sydney. It’ll be ace, mate!
